ABOUT MEDITATION

When it comes to the power of the mind, modern science has a limited understanding. It is, however, becoming more evident that slowing down and giving the mind a break can have profound results.

Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years but many cultures are just now starting to recognize its many benefits. When done regularly for just a few minutes, it can influence every area of your life.

With such a dramatic impact on overall health and wellness and documented evidence to back it up, it's difficult to question why we all wouldn't meditate daily.

WHAT IS MEDITATION?

Meditation is an ancient practice that has a broad range of techniques. It commonly involves sitting quietly in a state of awareness while relaxing the mind and releasing it from any activity or constraints.

WHY MEDITATE?

Neurological studies have revealed that meditation can lead to better emotional health, greater overall cognitive performance, enhanced immune system function, improved digestion, higher energy levels, and decreased inflammation. It can even biochemically rewire our bodies to produce higher levels of and more receptors for the chemicals that fight disease, reduce stress, and contribute to feelings of happiness and pleasure.

ANYTIME, ANYWHERE  |  HOW TO MEDITATE

There are different ways to meditate and you can do it almost anywhere even if you only have 10 minutes. A good way to start is to find yourself a quiet space and sit in a comfortable position. Allow your mind to clear and be aware of your breathing. Don't try to forcefully avoid your thoughts or any mental clutter. Just relax and watch any distractions come and go. If it doesn't seem to work or your mind buzzes with thoughts as you try to slow it down, that's okay. This is part of the process. Just keep at it and get comfortable with the idea that no matter how much it feels like nothing is happening, it really is a productive way to spend a few minutes. Over time, you’ll start to notice how invaluable meditation can be and like most things, you’ll get better at it with practice.
